This release has a lot of bug fixes around tables, we were able to get a document from one of our supporters that gave the visibility on how some documents are created, this exposed a few bugs, and also performance issues when exporting big and complex documents.
This is a Patron supporters release, the next release will be the one that will be published in Adobe Exchange
What’s changed in this release
Bug Fixes
- Tables in text frames that also contain a picture now export, instead of the whole frame being replaced by that picture.
- Pictures inside table cells now sit in their cell and move with the table, instead of being placed separately on the page.
- Exports of documents with large tables are much faster: the plugin no longer re-reads every table for every page.
- Only the table rows shown on a page are extracted, so tables that run across pages aren’t processed twice.
- Text variable lookups are skipped when a document has no text variables.
- Table cells, their text and their formatting are read a whole table at a time instead of one cell at a time.
- Colors, fonts and paragraph style names are remembered during an export, so each is read only once.
- Long tables no longer get cut off at the bottom of the page.
- Numbers in narrow table columns stay on one line instead of wrapping and doubling the row height.
- Table rows now match InDesign’s heights.
- Invisible characters between two tables no longer add a blank line.
- Text set with InDesign’s horizontal scale (e.g. 95%) now takes up the same width in the export, so lines break where InDesign breaks them.
- Two tables placed back to back use InDesign’s spacing, so the page keeps its bottom margin.
- Debug mode no longer crashes the UXP Developer Tool with “Max payload size exceeded” on large documents.
New Features or Enhancements
- Enhancement: Export to HTML5 now opens an options dialog with a Viewer tab and a Misc tab. OK starts the export and Cancel stops it without changing anything.
- The panel is simpler. It keeps only the Webpage title, the pages to export and a Debug checkbox.
- The dialog remembers your last choices. It opens with the settings you last confirmed with OK.
- The Plugins menu’s Export Document command opens the same dialog, just like the panel button.
- Enhancement: Scrollable Text, Web Content, Lightbox and Carousel are now grouped under a new “Interactive Elements” submenu in the PressTo5 menu.
- New Carousel screen (plugin menu) that turns any multi-state object into a slideshow.
- Each carousel has its own transition: Slide, Fade or None.
- Slides advance on their own every few seconds, or only when the reader chooses (set it to 0).
- Dots and a pause button sit over the bottom of the carousel.
- Readers can click a dot, swipe the carousel, pause it, or use the buttons you already set up to change its states.
- A carousel only moves while its page is on screen and the browser tab is visible.
- Readers who ask their system for reduced motion get no transitions and a carousel that starts paused.
- Multi-state objects you don’t tag export exactly as before.
- Enhancement: A progress bar under the Export button shows the current step and roughly how much time is left.
- Enhancement: The log window now sits in its own card that fills the space left in the panel and resizes with it.
- Enhancement: The export log shows how long each page took.
- Navigation enhancement: The browser’s Back button now turns to the previous page instead of leaving the publication.
- On phones, the back swipe turns back a page too.
- Flipping quickly through several pages counts as one step, so one Back returns to the page before the flipping started.
- A new “Back button turns pages” option on the Viewer tab of the export dialog turns this on or off (on by default).
- It applies only to the Pages layout; the Scrolling layout works as before.
