OpenAI announced some cool stuff at their dev day event. We are going to have cartoon style assistants working our jobs for us soon I think. These are called dots and they will be using the GPT-6 Astra model to complete tasks for you. They claim these can do a wide variety of tasks for you while being online. Similar to how you may currently use ChatGPT or Codex you will have dots working for you however they will not be tied to any one platform. Which I think is what they are selling with dots they can work towards your goals without much assistance from you. Once you create your first main dot you can give it a name and let it go. But OpenAI plans for you to have multiple dots working towards different tasks for you. Dots are now available to pro and business premium users through chatgpt in certain areas. You can access them from codex or chatgpt.

There are many examples of how you could use dots. From software engineering to scientific research. An example would be having a dot that looks at customer complaints for a software product and fixing those issues for you. You could have a scientist tell their dot to update their research data when new findings are found. You dont have to be on the OpenAI website to keep track of your dots they can connect to slack or microsoft teams and eventually SMS. OpenAI will be partnering with Microsoft on there Agent 365 feature so businesses can have certain dots with specific information and logins. There are many things that could be done with Codex if you know how to implement it. But by giving it this cuter appeal OpenAI can market it to more people. Much like they did with Meta and there product Muse.
