And here it is, finally, version 1.0.0!!! we’re throwing a party, it was several months of hard work, lots of reading, and endless sessions of testing.
Are we done? of course not, we tested a lot of cases, a lot of documents, with different designs, but were we able to get every single one of them? we don’t think so, this is an ongoing project.
Make sure you update to this version, previous versions will expire at the end of 2026 and any export will have watermarks and you can’t remove them. This is done to prevent people from using old versions of the plugin and reporting issues that probably were already fixed. Version 1.0.0 doesn’t expire.
What’s changed in this release
Bug Fixes
- Fixed hollow (outline-only) text in otherwise solid text frames showing stray lines inside the letters. Outlines now trace each letter cleanly at the stroke weight set in InDesign.
- Drop caps now keep a color or font you set directly on the letter (like a red “S”), instead of switching back to the paragraph style’s settings.
New Features or Enhancements
- New User Guide menu item opens the online PressTo5 user guide in your browser, you can access it here..
- New Print button option on the Viewer tab: readers can print the publication one page per sheet at its real size, without the viewer’s buttons and arrows.
- Scrollable Frame: a frame with content pasted into it, such as a group of cards, can now scroll up and down in the export. Before, only text frames could.
- Renamed: the “Scrollable Text” menu item and screen are now called “Scrollable Frame”.
- Clearer messages: selecting a group or a single picture now tells you what to do instead: paste the group into a frame, or use Pan & Zoom for the picture.
- New Before & After slider: turn a two-state multi-state object into a comparison that readers drag a divider across, side by side or top and bottom, with optional labels (Interactive Elements > Before & After).
- One effect per object: an object can be a Carousel, a Flip Card or a Before & After, and choosing one now replaces the others.
