What’s changed in this release

Bug Fixes

  • Inner Shadow and Outer Glow from InDesign’s Effects panel now carry over to the web page, on shapes, pictures and text.
  • Ovals, polygons and lines now show their drop shadows, which were missing before.
  • Fixed outlined (stroked) text sitting too high in the export, where it could overlap the text above it. It now sits on the same baseline as in InDesign.
  • Text in multi-column frames that wrap around pictures now uses InDesign’s exact line breaks and line widths, so it fits the frame just as it does in InDesign.
  • A paragraph that starts with one large letter no longer spaces all of its lines out to fit that letter.
  • Tight justified lines are now squeezed slightly to match InDesign, instead of running past the column edge.
  • Fixed the “severityLabel is not a function” error that stopped exports.
  • Exports now give their style and script files a new version tag each time, so browsers like Chrome on iPad always load the latest look instead of an outdated saved copy.
  • Added a safeguard that stops iPhone and iPad browsers from resizing text by themselves. It wasn’t the cause this time, but it prevents a similar problem later.

New Features or Enhancements

  • Enhancement: Preflight now flags hard-to-read text: it names each text frame whose text is too close in color to what’s behind it, and clicking one takes you to that frame.
  • New: Notes as popovers (Viewer > Text): footnote and endnote numbers open their note in a small box beside them, instead of the footnotes sitting at the foot of the frame.
    • Endnote numbers now appear in the exported text, numbered the way Document Endnote Options says.
    • Preflight now lists endnotes, so you know they’re only partly supported.
  • New: Blurred placeholders: pictures that haven’t loaded yet now show a soft, blurred preview instead of an empty frame (new option on the Export tab, on by default).
  • New Export report option (Misc tab, off by default): writes an export-report.html page that shows what was exported, any warnings, what was left out or changed (including hidden objects), and how big the export is.
    • Open export report button: appears under the log after an export, so you can open the report in your browser with one click.
    • Clearer missing-file messages: linked pictures or media that can’t be copied are now named in the log instead of failing silently.
    • Batch Export: each document gets its own report, and the batch report adds two columns: how many things were left out or changed, and where that document’s report is.
