What’s changed in this release
Bug Fixes
- Fixed an issue where image frames with a colored or gradient background (like the green overlay behind a semi-transparent photo) exported without that background.
- Tables now export as real HTML tables with selectable text, instead of empty boxes. Tables were dropped by the exporter due the anchor text used by InDesign.
- A table that runs across several frames shows the right rows in each frame, with its header and footer rows repeated like in InDesign.
- Cell formatting carries over: column widths, row heights, padding, background colors, borders, merged cells, vertical alignment and rotated text.
- Alternating row or column fills from Table Setup appear in the export.
- Text inside a cell keeps its own font, size, color, bold/italic, alignment and links.
- Text in the same frame as a table, like a heading above or a note below, stays in place, and the table is aligned like the paragraph it sits in.
- Fonts used only inside tables now load in the exported page.
- Reader search finds text inside tables, and repeated header rows count only once.
- Large outlined text, like a big stroked number, now sits at the same height as in InDesign instead of dropping down onto the content below it.
- Large outlined numbers now keep the horizontal squeeze set in InDesign and are no longer cut off at the edge of their frame.
New Features or Enhancements
- Navigation enhancements
- Page number box: readers can type a page number, or the number printed on the page (like “iv”), and press Enter to go straight to that page.
- Progress bar: a thin bar across the top shows how far through the publication the reader is.
- Page thumbnails button: with the page number box on, the page thumbnails open from a small grid button next to it.
- New Viewer theme option: choose a Dark or Light look for everything around the pages, or Match system to follow the reader’s light/dark mode.
- On phones, the browser’s toolbar now matches the viewer’s background color.
- Panel enhancement: redesigned the Viewer and Misc sections with InDesign’s native controls, so options are easier to click, their explanations sit next to each option name instead of in pop-up “?” bubbles
- New Lightbox menu item: tag a picture frame, and readers can click the picture to see it enlarged and uncropped over the page.
- Image links open in the lightbox: on a tagged frame, links to image files open in the lightbox instead of leaving the page. Images linked from your disk are copied into the export automatically.
- Zoom and browse: readers can zoom and pan, and step through the other lightbox images on screen by click, tap, pinch, swipe or keyboard.
- Existing clicks still work: pictures that already link to a web page, buttons, videos and Web Content keep doing what they did.
- Sharp but light: enlarged images are exported in high resolution and only download when a reader opens them.
